The Madshus Difference
It’s been over 100 years since Martin Madshus shaped the finest timbers into works of wintery art with the original Madshus skis.
The make-up and variation within the raw goods has changed dramatically from the original wood trunks to today’s highly-controlled materials processes, but the principles remain the same. We use only the most well-defined and stable materials for the highest control of the production process and precision with the end product design.
Below are a few technologies and processes that help us set new levels of performance at Madshus.

RevoWrap™ construction envelops the foot with a single piece upper, from the heel around the toe and back to the heel and from the outsole up to the lacing on the eyestay. The upper materials conform to the foot with minimal seams, providing even pressure distribution. As you tighten your laces, it pulls directly on the upper material connected to the outsole, which help delivers a snugger, more comfortable fit, leading to precise control of your skis.
In keeping with Madshus’ commitment to protecting our climate, Madshus RED, Champion, Race Performance, and selected Backcountry and Junior boots are designed for the best in fit and breathable performance, in a totally PVC-Free construction.
MemBrain® Softshell Construction
Madshus boots feature MemBrain® softshell lace covers. This waterproof and breathable material helps keep the foot warm, dry, and comfortable.
Madshus’ Lacing Fingers reach far below the boot’s visible lacing – wrapping the whole foot rather than just pulling the sides together at the tongue – to secure the foot laterally and medially with balanced tension. The result is improved heel hold and a better overall fit.
Integrated Carbon Skate Base
The 3D-molded Integrated Carbon Base on the Madshus Super Nano boot transfers every ounce of power directly into the ski, with unparalleled stability. The one-piece base matches the contours of the foot, wrapping around the heel, under the arch, and all the way through the forefoot, minimizing the amount of material between your foot and the ski for moredirect drive. All combined, the boot is 47% more torsionally rigid than any other boot we have built.
Integrated Carbon Classic Base
Now featured on the new Super Nano Classic, the one-piece base holds the heel and wraps through the arch to the toes, providing stability and edge control. The forefoot layup is tuned to flex easily, with a spring-like kick.

Paulownia and Carbon Hybrid Construction
Paulownia – a fast-growing, farm-raised wood core material with fantastic weight and even density – is surrounded by carbon reinforcement for optimal, lightweight stiffness and torsion.
Triaxial Carbon Construction
Triaxial Braiding Construction is the process of interlocking strands of fiberglass and carbon fiber around the entire core. This unique method produces excellent torsional rigidity and strength while maintaining a lively feel and light-weight.

3D Construction is the unique process of shaping a ski’s surface geometry to remove weight and channel stiffness, for a precise tuning of a ski’s torsional rigidity and flex.
Torsion Cap Construction
Torsion Cap Construction reinforces the ski’s core with a cap, allowing for a very durable and lightweight construction.

The NIS (Nordic Integrated System) allows for the quick and easy removal of NNN bindings. Make micro adjustments out on the trail and dial in your performance.
Madshus Speed Tip
A component of the ski’s overall profile, Madshus Speed Tip offers the perfect splay needed to elongate the ski’s pressure zone, ideal for colder snow conditions.
Madshus Speed Tip Plus
The Madshus Speed Tip Plus maximizes glide by creating shorter pressure zones that help float over soft and wet snow conditions.
CAD (Computer Aided Design) provides Madshus the opportunity to produce skis of incredibly complex 3-dimensional designs to accompany the high performance characteristics of the Madshus RED and Champion skis. From initial testing, Madshus industrial designers and engineers process the feedback from athletes and digitally simulate changes to evaluate current and proposed properties of the skis.
Bases de ski
Providing the legendary all-terrain grip of Mohair skin with the maximum glide performance needed for classic skiing, touring, and, nordic cruising. For tough waxing conditions, Intelligrip® and Intelligrip® bases are built with the highest quality mohair underfoot, paired with smooth polyethylene. This ensures optimum kick and glide, that avoids icing as well.
P200 Nano Zero Base
The P200 Nano Zero base features a rubberized kick pocket inset in the P-Tex to provide perfect kick in the most difficult, 0 degree Celsius, wax conditions. Featured exclusively on the REDLINE series, the P200 Nano Zero combines incredible durability with unmatched wax permeability to create the pinnacle of our racing bases.
The P190 base was designed as a race ready base that is versatile in a variety of conditions.
The P170 base was designed to complement our race performance skis, providing the durable and fast bases that are expected with Madshus skis.
Zero Classic Base
A classic ski base construction that uses a special factory-sanded, rubberized insert section in the kick zone of the skis. Its raised texture provides for more efficient traction in conditions right around 0 degrees Celsius.
P-tex 2000 Electra Sintered Racing Base
The P-tex 2000 Electra Sintered Racing Base uses polyethylene pellets pressed into a hard block and cut off into thin strips. This results in a very hard base that is relatively porous and accepts glide wax well, especially after numerous applications.
MultiGrip (MG) Wax-Free Base
The MultiGrip (MG) base is Madshus' standard waxless base with a constant scale pattern along the whole length of the ski. This base will provide excellent grip in all snow conditions.
MultiGrip Vario+ (MGV+) Wax-Free Base
The original MultiGrip patent achieves grip and provides greater stability in challenging conditions. Using three different segments of patterned materials, the MultiGrip Vario+ provides stable and confident bilateral grip without sacrificing ski glide and performance.
Omnitrak® Waxless Base
The Omnitrak® waxless base is used on Madshus Cross Country Downhill skis. Engineered with five zones, the Omnitrak® base uses round, spaced scales in transition zones for a smoother, more efficient glide and sharp, tight scales underfoot for maximum grip.
P200 Nano Black Base
The P200 Nano Black base optimizes ski speed with a unique construction built around the unique and infinite properties of all snow conditions. Featured exclusively on the REDLINE series, the P200 combines incredible durability with unmatched wax permeability to create the pinnacle of our racing bases.
P200 Nano Black Plus
The P200 Black Plus base technology features unique materials that ensure maximum dirt resistance and eliminate suction with their hydrophobic properties. Featured exclusively on the REDLINE series, the P200 combines incredible durability with unmatched wax permeability to create the pinnacle of our racing bases.
3D Heat Moldable
The shape of the Madshus Contour strap is 3D-molded at the factory to securely hold onto the complex anatomy of your hand. The strap is also heat moldable to create a further customized fit.
Silicone printing on the inside of the Contour Champion and Contour Race straps keeps the strap firmly in place so you can pole more effectively from start to finish.
Ultra High Modulus Shaft
Using 100% ultra high modulus carbon construction helps create a pole with increased stiffness and a reduced weight of 58 grams per meter. This results in an efficient, direct transfer of energy.
Contour Champion and Race Strap
The Madshus Contour Champion Strap uses material orientation and webbing extending to the wrist to prevent stretch, maximizing force transmission to get you to the finish line faster. The 3D-molded and 3D-heat-moldable shape works with the SuperGrip material to provide superior comfort and hand-hold.
Noyau de ski
An NFC chip embedded in the ski’s core with data about the ski’s internal properties and measurements. A digital database relays the unique internal signature of each ski. By scanning the skis’ internal chip, you instantly gain information about the skis’ properties, such as flex profiles, target skier weight, optimal waxing properties and camber profiles.
The PR 100X Core is a high-performance Rohacell foam core that was developed for extreme strength-to-weight applications in aeronautics that helps provide dampening properties and adds strength and stiffness to the ski without extra weight.
The PR90 X core is reinforced by Triaxial Carbon braiding technology, and is used because of its light weight and the ability to dampen the ride. The core is then 3D shaped for ultimate power transfer and weight savings.
3D-shaped to maximize the feel of the ski, the PU-based foam core utilizes specific carbon and fiberglass reinforcements to guarantee flex consistency with excellent dampening properties.
Air W is a lightweight Madshus wood core with air channels cut in it to reduce the weight. It is perfectly shaped to fit the ski, minimizing the excess use of glue in the ski.
Multicore is a highly durable Madshus wood core laminated together to enhance the camber lifetime of the ski. Multicore gives extra strength and liveliness to the ski, and it is shaped to fit the ski profile, minimizing the excess use of glue in the ski's production.
